The Brazil-based Dreamlinux project team introduced Dreamlinux 2.0 on July 16. The install/live CD distribution is based on a 2.6.14 Kanotix Kernel and the XFce desktop, and comprises a combination of Debian, Knoppix, and Morphix code.
As a live CD with a graphical hard disk installation option, it boots directly into an XFce desktop, which provides access to a collection of desktop applications and a central control panel for system configuration, according to the project team.
Dreamlinux brings together a group of well-known Linux apps for a production environment, including: - OpenOffice 2.0.2
- GNOME Office
- Thunderbird 1.0.7 email client
- Inkscape vector graphics editor
- Gimp 2.2.8 graphics editor
- Xorg 6.9 window manager
- Full support for multimedia
- automatic detection of video cards and monitors,
- v2.5 of MKDistro
"This Dreamlinux version is the result of making use of various technologies that came from many different distros, like Kanotix, Elive, Morphix and Debian," the team said in its release announcement.
The distro also boasts Xorg 6.9, support for ALSA, and many refinements and improvements, beyond the customized XFCE 4.4 environment and with exclusive icons for this distro, the team added.
