With this announcement, Arabic speakers finally have a cheap, user-friendly alternative to Microsoft Windows and Office that's more than 90% cheaper.
Hancom Linux Deluxe Arabic Edition is a powerful and complete native Linux-based desktop bundle that includes both an operating system and an office productivity suite. The operating system, Hancom Linux OS Arabic, is a powerful, user-friendly desktop operating system that's localized to meet the needs of Arabic users and includes the KDE 3.0 desktop. The Arabic edition of Hancom Office includes a word processor, spreadsheet and presentation program, all of which are compatible with Microsoft Office's file formats.
Hancom Linux Deluxe is a fully bi-directional product with a complete Arabic-language interface and secure input and output of Arabic characters. The product will be made available to the public within weeks and will be showcased at the Infonet conference in Tunisia, which will be held May 8-11.
