| Dreamlinux releases v2.1 live CD |

An updated live CD version of Dreamlinux, a Debian-based distribution with a Max OS X-like interface, was released Sept. 20. It sports a 2.6.14 Linux kernel along with an XFce desktop, according to the project.
Dreamlinux, which offers a graphical hard drive installation option, boots directly into an XFce desktop and provides access to a useful collection of desktop applications plus a central control panel for system configuration, the team said in the release announcement.
The major focus of the v2.1 release was on fixing bugs reported in the earlier version, but a number of new features have also been added.
Key new features, as reported by the team, are:- Improved hardware detection modules with new drivers
- Addition of automount
- Internet sharing
- NTFS read/write support
- Powernow functionality
- Numerous package updates, including Inkscape, OpenOffice.org and GNOME Office.
"This update brings Dreamlinux into sync with Debian's 'testing' repository," the team said in the release announcement.
Standard Dreamlinux features, according to the project website, include:- GAIM 1.5.1 messenger
- Mplayer 1.0pre7 audio player
- GIMP 2.2.8 graphics editor
- Firefox 1.5.0.1 browser
- Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 email client
