Feb. 01, 2006
The KDE project Tuesday announced immediate availability of KDE 3.5.1 -- a maintenance release for the latest generation of the popular free Linux/Unix desktop. The new offering provides corrections of problems, in addition to enhanced support for existing translations and new translations, the project said.
KDE 3.5 and maintenance releases such as 3.5.1 serve as the final iterations of the KDE 3.x line, according to the KDE team.
Performance improvements include:- Caching added for getElementById
- Much faster appending of options to selects, and clearing of selects
- Small improvements in efficiency of URL handling in image loader
In addition, the JavaScript debugger is now more reliable; the application now doesn't crash when downloading vocabularies for the KWordQuiz game; and several graphics-affiliated bugs have been remedied, the project said.
