Latest Win4Lin supports latest Linspire Linux
Aug. 01, 2006

Win4Lin, which develops desktop and enterprise Windows-on-Linux virtualization software, announced Aug. 1 that its Win4Lin Pro product is now compatible with Linspire's latest distro, Five-0. It is now available in Linspire's online CNR Warehouse.

Win4Lin Pro allows Linux users to run new or legacy Windows applications on home, small office computers or legacy application servers, by enabling Windows to run alongside Linux on the user's desktop system.

Linspire CEO Kevin Carmony stated, "Adding Win4Lin Pro compatibility to Linspire opens up large Windows XP and 2000 user base to the world of desktop Linux." said "People who are ready to migrate to the stability, security and affordability of Linspire desktop Linux, but still need one or two legacy Windows applications, can now begin their migration forward."

Linspire's CNR ("click and run") Warehouse gives Linspire users access to thousands of software applications, each of which can be downloaded and installed with one click, a Linspire spokesman said.

"Our Win4Lin 9x products have consistently been one of their top selling applications, and we believe that the availability of Windows XP and 2000 will be welcomed by Linspire members," added Win4Lin CEO Jim Curtin.

Win4Lin 9X provides migration support for enterprise users moving from Windows to Linux with full support for networked environments. Win4Lin Virtual Desktop Server is the company's enterprise solution for delivering Windows applications on thin clients via a Linux server.

Pricing ranges from $29.99 for the Win4Lin Home edition, to $89.99 for Win4Lin Pro. Linspire users can download and buy it on Linspire's website, here.
