| Scalix secures $6M round of funding |

Scalix Corporation reports that it has concluded an $6M round of funding that it will use to accelerate the company's expansion. New investor Mohr Davidow Ventures added to the $13M the company raised in May 2003 from Mayfield and New Enterprise Associates. The total amount invested in Scalix now tops $19M.
MDV general partner and Microsoft veteran, Sam Jadallah was named to the Scalix board. Jadallah held several roles at Microsoft including vice president of worldwide enterprise sales and reported to Steve Ballmer as general manager of worldwide business strategy.
Last month Scalix opened an office in Germany and announced a network of European VARs.
San Mateo, CA-based Scalix offers an email and calendaring platform for Linux. It is based on Open Systems Architecture (OSA), web services and open source technology. The platform scales across organizations for enterprises of all sizes without costly licensing and vendor lock-in imposed with proprietary solutions. Scalix licensed HP's Open Mail software.
The company’s products interoperate with existing messaging systems including Microsoft Exchange 5.5/2000, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 or 3.0, or Red Hat Linux 9.0. Scalix products can be integrated with many popular desktop, email clients, wireless devices, antivirus, anti-spam, security, and directory products. In January Scalix released software support with for BlackBerry devices along with enterprise security and directory infrastructure products, including Microsoft Active Directory.
Earlier this month Palo Alto's Radicati Group Inc. says that the Linux-based messaging market is expected to double by 2008.
