Guardian Digital on Tuesday introduced the latest version of EnGarde Secure Linux, Community 3.0.10. It features a 2.6.17 kernel, the new SELinux Control Console, and the context-sensitive Guardian Digital help system, along with bug fixes and upgrades to major applications, team spokesman Ryan W. Maple said.
The SELinux Control Console is a new interface that allows users "to monitor the audit logs, toggle enforcing mode and booleans, download the policy to your local computer, and trigger a relabel of the file systems," Maple said.
Key feature upgrades, according to the U.S.-based team, include:- Apache (from 2.0.59 to 2.2.3)
- Postfix (2.2.11 to 2.3.3)
- Snort (2.4.5 to 2.6.0.2)
EnGarde can be used as a web, DNS, email, database, and general Internet server, Maple said. Intrusion detection, gateway firewall, and complete web management come with EnGarde, and no Linux administration skills are required, Maple said.
Guardian Digital, Inc. was established in 1999 as an engineering company devoted to the process of developing security software for use with e-business solutions, the team said.
