| Novell offers free eval download of SuSE Linux 9.2 Pro |

Novell is making an evaluation version of SuSE Linux Professional 9.2 available as a free download. The company says the free offering is intended to allow Linux users to test drive its latest SuSE open source desktop, server, and application functionality. In contrast to the LiveDVD version that boots directly from the DVD without modifying the hard disk, the free trial version is described by Novell as "a fully installable version [that] is not time limited."
According to Novell's website, the free evaluation download provides an installable selection of SuSE Linux Professional 9.2 that includes: - A comprehensive selection of applications to facilitate a wide variety of computing tasks (office suite, email, Internet, picture processing, multimedia, and more)
- 32-bit and 64-bit versions
- Over 1,000 software packages
"This free offer of SuSE Linux Professional 9.2 provides a perfect starting point for many individuals to use and get to know a Linux distribution better," Novell said.
The free download, which consists of a 3.1GB DVD ISO image, is available here. Boxed versions, compete with comprehensive manuals, are available from "all major retail outlets" and Novell's website.
