| Enterprise instant messaging client released as open source |
Jan. 24, 2006
Softwired has contributed its Java-based iBusU enterprise instant messaging application to the open source community. iBusU delivers non-restrictive, secure and compliant enterprise instant messaging, the company said.
Intended primarily for corporations, workgroups, and individuals who need to collaborate on time-sensitive and mission-critical information, iBusU enables reliable communication in real time, according to Softwired.
iBusU has been used successfully by Switzerland-based Softwired for its own corporate internal messaging. To run iBusU, users must access one of Softwired's (or any other Java Messaging Service provider) messaging middleware products, such as iBus//MessageBus (for peer-to-peer architectures) or iBus//MessageServer (for publisher/subscriber relationships).
The server acts as a central broker or conduit between the two or more clients' instances.
Written in Java, the iBusU code is open source and can be integrated with any other JMS provider. iBusU is published under the Apache License Version 2.0, which is free of charge.
Softwired will include the iBusU IM client as a demo application for deployment in its next release of iBus//Mobile software for mobile devices scheduled later this month.
