| Xandros unveils new desktop 2.0 early next month |

Xandros Desktop 2.0 will be available on December 9th at software retailers and via download from the company's website. According to the announcement, highlights in this release include an easy-to-use interface, drag and drop CD burning, and 4 click-installation. Based on Debian Linux 4.0, Xandros uses an enhanced KDE 3.1.4 desktop and is compatible with Microsoft Windows networks and applications.
Xandros Desktop 2.0 will be available in a Standard Edition that including 30 days of e-mail support, and retails for USD $40. A Deluxe Edition of Xandros retails for US $90 and includes CrossOver Office 2.1 and CrossOver Plugin to extend Windows compatibility to applications like Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, and Quickbooks. Xandros' enhanced version also scales to allow for a Windows XP (NTFS) partition, includes a 350-page user guide in the boxed version, and comes with second disc with bonus applications, games, and tools, with 60 days of e-mail support.
Currently registered users of previous Xandros releases have special pricing available on upgrades. A 30-day trial version of the Standard Edition of Xandros Desktop 2.0 will be available on the company's website.
