Lycoris to bundle Codeweavers Crossover 3.0
Jun. 16, 2004

Codeweavers' CrossOver Office 3.0 will be bundled with Lycoris' Desktop/LX operating system according to an announcement of a partnership between the two companies today.

"By joining Desktop/LX and CrossOver Office, average computer users will be able to translate away from Windows, while also saving money using Windows applications they already own and know how to use," said Jeremy White, Founder/CEO of CodeWeavers.

CrossOver Office 3.0 features support for over 30 popular Windows applications. In addition to Microsoft Office, Visio, and Internet Explorer, Intuit Quicken, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash, Adobe Photoshop, and other popular Windows-based applications, the new release extends Linux support to Lotus Notes 6.51, Microsoft Outlook XP, and Microsoft Project. With the new release, Codeweavers has also integrated its browser plug-in application into all CrossOver Office products, extending CrossOver Plugin support for popular browser plug-ins such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, eFax, iPIX, QuickTime, Real Player, Shockwave Director, Windows Media Player, and Macromedia Flash.

CrossOver Office is compatible with the entire Lycoris product line including Desktop/LX Deluxe, Desktop/LX Tablet Edition, and Desktop/LX Interconnect, according to Lycoris.

Lycoris PowerPak, incorporating Desktop/LX and CrossOver Office, is available for US $75. Lycoris will also begin selling CrossOver Office as a standalone product online for US $40 beginning in early July.

Lycoris' Linux platform has long focused on the consumer user. The company also offers specialized versions of Lycoris for handhelds like the Compaq iPaq and Sharp Zaurus, and Lycoris TabletPC software that runs on Toshiba and the HP-Compaq Tablet PC. Lycoris announced earlier this month that its new Linux desktop is due out in July.

CrossOver Office is also bundled with Desktop Linux distributions from Xandros and SuSE.
