| OpenOffice.org now available at CompUSA and TigerDirect |
Oct. 11, 2004
Flexiety Software Company is now selling OpenOffice.org for Windows with support at 25 CompUSA stores in Silicon Valley, Seattle, and Texas. The company expects to have OpenOffice.org available in all CompUSA stores by 2006.
OpenOffice.org claims 100,000 downloads per week, according to data available from the OpenOffice.org Statistics Project, which tracks downloads from OpenOffice.org and mirror sites.
Free professional support is available for Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OS X users of OpenOffice.org through Flexiety's online program for up to 30 days, through a trial program coordinated with Flexeity's support program with DownloadOpenOffice.org. The project launched in July.
Two levels of software support are available. A free version gives users unlimited access to online support staff for 30 days, and an extended 90 days support subscription provides 90 days of support for US $13.95.
Existing OpenOffice.org users are also invited to obtain support through the DownloadOpenOffice.org community program.
DownloadOpenOffice.org's support team is donated by Flexiety Software and is comprised of a mix of contractors and full-time support techs, according to Anthony Long, a marketing manager for Flexeity and the Leader of the OpenOffice.org OEM Project. Full time staffers monitor the major user-oriented lists of OpenOffice.org and augment their expertise from the worldwide OpenOffice.org knowledge base. Flexiety already supports global customers with two support programs for OpenOffice.org.
Customers outside of these regions can purchase the software on TigerDirect.com's website.
To take part in the 30 day trial support program, visit DownloadOpenOffice.org. The program supports OpenOffice.org running on Linux, Windows, Solaris, and Mac OS X.
