| First Ubuntu Live conference set for July |

Registration opened today for Ubuntu Live, the first official conference dedicated to Ubuntu. The three-day conference will be held July 22-24 in conjunction with the O'Reilly 2007 Open Source Convention, at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Ore.
The conference will showcase a wide-ranging program of expert-led sessions and tutorials to inform and educate the growing Ubuntu community, from power users to the simply "Ubuntu-curious," an O'Reilly spokesperson said.
Ubuntu Live aims to provide an interactive, in-depth, and comprehensive educational experience for all participants. Attendees are expected to include IT professionals, government and business leaders, educators, community leaders, and enterprise users.

- Torsten Spindler, Canonical: "IT Infrastructure Management in Ubuntu"
- Carl Albing, Cray Inc.: "Bash & Dash -- Shell Scripting for Power Users"
- Crispin Cowan, Novell/SUSE:"AppArmor: Easy-to-use Security for Ubuntu Linux"
- James Ward, Adobe Systems: "Building Cross-OS Applications on Linux"
- Scott Balneaves, Legal Aid Manitoba: "Govbuntu: Deploying Ubuntu in Government"
- Bradley Taylor, Rails Machine: "Ruby on Rails on Ubuntu"
- Jon "maddog" Hall, Linux International: "Thin Clients, FHAT Results"
- Lila Tretikov, SugarCRM: "Open Source CRM for Linux -- and Humans"
Ubuntu Live also will feature a number of keynote sessions delivered by open source leaders and visionaries, including Canonical president Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu; Stephen O'Grady, principal analyst of RedMonk; Mitchell Kapor, founder and chair of the Open Source Applications Foundation (OSAF); Marten Mickos, CEO of MySQL AB; and Eben Moglen, director of the Software Freedom Law Center and co-author of the GPLv3 open source license.
Attendees can explore products and services developed for Ubuntu in the exhibit hall of this event and interact with the larger community through evening events, as well as "Birds of a Feather" (BoF) sessions, where like-minded individuals can gather to share their knowledge, best practices, and solutions.
The event will be co-produced by Canonical Ltd., the Isle of Man-based commercial sponsor and distributor of Ubuntu and related projects, and O'Reilly Media, a longtime book publisher and resource for the open source community.
