Dec. 14, 2004
The GnomeMeeting project has released an update to its VoIP and IP telephony application for Linux desktops. Targeting video conferenceing for Linux desktop users, GnomeMeeting Version 1.2 supports the H.323 protocol, allows users to share contacts between GnomeMeeting and Novell Evolution, and enables users to make PC-To-Phone calls at inexpensive rates using just a soundcard.

GnomeMeeting was initially released in March 2004 as the result of a project at the Universit Catholique de Louvain, in Belgium.
Gnomemeeting is included in desktop Linux distributions from Debian, Slackware, Red Hat, Mandrake, and SuSE. Packages will soon be available for Fedora Core 3 and SuSE 9.2, according to the project. An alternate version, called NetMeeting, is available for Microsoft Windows users.
GnomeMeeting 1.2 can be downloaded here. A full FAQ is available here.
