| Lindows to get new international name |
Apr. 06, 2004
Lindows CEO Michael Robertson has announced in his latest column that the company will announce a new name for international market on April 14. The company is currently in the process of selecting a name for the company and its products for sales outside of US. Last Friday, the San Diego-based company lost a bid in US court to block Microsoft from filing international claims against the Linux company in an attempt to stop them from doing business, the Lindows founder claims.
In March, Microsoft successfully petitioned an Amsterdam judge to suspend Lindows.com operations in the Netherlands.
These latest court battles all stem from December 2001 lawsuit filed against Lindows.com by Microsoft for violating the 'Windows' trademark and promoting Lindows.com's Linux consumer-oriented products. The Redmond-based trial is currently delayed.
