Linux-based laptop shipping in US for $700

Taiwanese computer maker is now offering a Linux laptop for $700. The Elitegroup Computer System Co. Ltd.is now shipping 300,000 laptops with LindowsOS Laptop edition, according to an announcement from Lindows.com.

The laptop comes with a DVD dual drive, 4 USB ports, LAN, and and 14.1-inch display. The system runs on an AMD 1400+ processor with 128MB of on-board memory, upgradeable to 640MB. They have a 2.5-inch hard drive with up to 80GB of storage and built-in Wi-Fi support for 802.11b networks.
