| Linux antivirus software selected to protect ISPs |
Aug. 26, 2004
ISPs in the UK and Norway have selected Vexira Antivirus for Linux to protect their email infrastructure against malicious programs and attacks. UK-based Fasthosts Internet and Norway's BlueCom both recently signed deals with Central Command, according to Ohio-based Vexira.
Vexira Antivirus scans in-bound and out-bound email, with heuristic virus detection and automatically updates software with patches as they become available, says the company.
Central Command antivirus software runs on FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and Linux. Linux distributions supported include Red Hat, Red Flag, SuSE, Debian, Gentoo, Mandrake, and Slackware.
Vexira Antivirus for Mail Servers starts at US $300. A free trial version can be downloaded from the company's website.
