| OpenOffice.org 2.0.2 hits the Web |
Mar. 14, 2006
The OpenOffice.org team Monday released v2.0.2 of the popular office suite. While most of its new features involve additional language support, the new version fixes many small bugs, resolves a number of issues, and is recommended for everyone, the project team said.
The spellcheck dictionary in German and some other languages is now directly integrated into OpenOffice.org 2.0.2, so there is no need for a separate download for those languages, according to the team's announcement.
Import filters for Quattro Pro 6 and Microsoft Word 2 also have been added. Other import filters have been improved, and it is now easier to use mail merge, the project said. Integration with the KDE address book is now possible, the team added.
The look and feel also has been enhanced, and for Linux users, there are new icon sets for KDE and Gnome. (OpenOffice.org runs on Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, and Windows). The result of this and the other improvements is not just a more attractive OpenOffice.org, but a friendlier and more capable office suite, the project said.
