May 11, 2004
An alliance was announced between NeTraverse and Mandrakesoft to bring Windows-to-Linux migration capabilities to users and organizations with dependencies on legacy Windows applications.
NeTraverse's Win4Lin and Win4Lin Terminal Server products enable organizations to run custom or legacy Windows applications on Linux, and to bridge their critical custom and legacy Windows applications to Linux. Win4Lin runs on x86-based machines, and both solutions are certified on Mandrake.
Last month, MandrakeSoft announced the availability of Mandrakelinux 10.0 Official, which includes a suite of desktop and server applications. The 10.0 Official release ships with the latest Linux kernel, version 2.6, along with KDE 3.2, GNOME 2.4, and support for Serial ATA, USB2, and Firewire (IEEE 1394). Additionally, the release marks the first product from the company following a new release process that includes a quality assurance review by the open source development community.
