Xandros 2.0 Linux desktop OS now shipping

Xandros today announced that version 2 of the company's namesame Linux desktop OS is now available. The updated Debian-based distribution features quick installation, drag-and-drop capabilities for buring CDs and better integration with Windows.

The company touts the new OS is simple to use and installs with just four clicks of a mouse. Other features include automatic disk partitioning, hardware detection & configuration, file sharing, and single-click access to free Linux software

The standard edition of Xandros 2.0 is US $40 and comes with 30 days of e-mail support. A deluxe version is also available for US $90 and includes extras like Codeweavers' CrossOver Office 2.1 for Microsoft Office compatibility and CrossOver Plug-In to expand Linux Web-browsing, the ability to allocate install space from a Windows XP (NTFS) partition, a 350 page User Guide (boxed version only), Disc 2 with bonus applications, games, and tools, and 60 days of e-mail support.

Upgrade pricing is available to registered users of previous Xandros software via the company's website.
