| Checking out SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 SP1 |
Jul. 03, 2007
Review -- New service packs for operating systems usually offer modest performance and feature benefits. But sometimes a service pack upgrade comes along that really makes a difference, and SUSE Linux 10 SP1 is exactly that one.
"With its SP1 for SLED (SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop), Novell has given an already excellent business desktop a real kick in the pants," writes DesktopLinux.com columnist Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols in one of the first reviews of SLED 10 SP1.
"To see what it could do I installed SP1 on both of my SLED systems. The first, an older system, was a generic box with a 2.8 GHz Pentium IV, one GB of RAM, and an Ultra ATA/100, 60 GB hard drive," Vaughan-Nichols writes.
Vaughan-Nichols examines SLED 10 SP1's new, improved main menu, test-drives its desktop applications, and checks out some of its spiffy new video technologies. To find out more about what's new in SP1, and why he thinks "SLED is simply the best business desktop around," read the entire article -- complete with screenshots -- here:
