| Linspire name change now official |
Sep. 01, 2004
Linspire Inc. announced today that its corporate name change from Lindows Inc. is now official. Stemming from a recent legal settlement with Microsoft, the San Diego Linux desktop maker will no longer use the term Lindows in any manner, including on its website.
Lindows had filed a registration statement with the SEC in April for an initial public offering (IPO) of its common stock with a goal of raising $57.5 million, but the plan was shelved last month. Terms of the company's settlement with Microsoft were not disclosed at the time, but an updated SEC filing indicated that Microsoft paid Lindows.com $20 million.
