Following the Nov. 3 release of Mandriva Linux 2006, Mandriva has mobilized its network of Linux User Groups (LUGs) to help with free international installation sessions on Saturday, Nov. 19. Major participating locations include the United States, Brazil, Canada, China, Morocco, and the island of Reunion. More than 60 cities are involved, including a dozen in China and 15 in Brazil, Mandriva said.
On Nov. 19, expert Mandriva Linux users are invited to assist beginners to help them get started with the operating system. A variety of thank-you gifts will be distributed to the participants, Mandriva said.
Participants will be able to:- Get help on installing Mandriva Linux on their laptop or desktop
free of charge
- View demonstrations of all that can be done with Mandriva Linux
- Get answers to questions
- Meet other Mandriva Linux users
These installation parties are made possible thanks to the power of the knowledge-sharing spirit well established within the open source community, Mandriva said.
