Extremetech reviews Lindows 4.0, citing significant strides since its debut, easy installation for new users, and a "helpful tutorial." In fact, the reviewer sat down a Linux newbie -- his mother -- in an effort to demonstrate the simplicity and familiar system for all users. On the other hand, the review also points out the too-pared down desktop does not offer much software in the basic edition, even freely available OpenOffice.org, and offers no easy way to set up a VPN.
