MandrakeSoft announced the availability of Mandrakelinux 10.0 Official. The release marks the first product from the company following a new release process that includes a quality assurance review by the open source development community.
MandrakeLinux includes a suite of desktop and server applications. The 10.0 Official release ships with the latest Linux kernel, version 2.6, KDE 3.2, GNOME 2.4 and support for Serial ATA, USB2 and Firewire (IEEE 1394)
Mandrakeclub Members may choose from a variety of download options as a annual subscription. Standard Members receive immediate access to the Mandrakelinux 10.0 Official Download Edition which includes three installation CDs and an 'extra applications' CD, Silver-level members and above get five Mandrakelinux 10.0 Official PowerPack CD ISO images with three installation CDs and two additional CDs of extra applications, and Gold Members receive seven copies of the PowerPack CD ISO images with three installation CDs and four extra apps CDs. Corporate users can select a single DVD of all applications and Mandrakelinux 10.0 Official PowerPack.
Preorders are available now, with retail versions available in May at the company's website and select stores, according to a company announcement
Paris-based MandrakeSoft had endured financial troubles over the past year including filing for bankruptcy protection in France last year. Last month the company announced that a French court had accepted the organization's plan for emergence from bankruptcy and shares of MandrakeSoft stock are being traded again in the US and abroad.
