Asian countries team up for open source Linux development

In a move to "limit their dependence on Windows," Asia is emerging as a leader in Linux according to a report at ITBusiness. The article focuses on the teaming of Japan, South Korea and China to share development costs and determine standards for Linux with Asian language support.

Japan is said to have earmarked US $8.6 billion for research. Other countries, such as Taiwan have made similar contributions, toward Linux in the past few months.
