| Thunderbird update boosts security, stability |
Apr. 24, 2006
Mozilla released new "security and stability" updates for its open source email client, Thunderbird, on April 24. Thunderbird 1.0.8 is serving as the final release in the Thunderbird 1.0.x product line, and the upgraded version 1.5.0 was released in conjunction with Firefox 1.5 last November.
The recently released Mozilla Application Suite 1.7.13 will be the last official release of the Mozilla Application Suite, the company said. "Mozilla Corp. recommends that all users of these products upgrade to the Thunderbird 1.5.0.x product line," a Mozilla spokesman said.
Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 does not include Universal Binary support for Mac OS X, the company said. Mozilla hopes to have this ready for 1.5.0.3, the spokesman said.
Mozilla's Calendar team on March 21 released Lightning 0.1, a new calendar extension for Thunderbird 1.5 users who run Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows.
You can download your own free copy of Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 for Linux here and for Windows here. You also can download a compressed disk image for Mac OX here.
