| Free app enables file sharing across Lin/Win/Mac platforms |

Last week, Australia-based Lava Software shipped version 4.5 of its PC-Mac-Net FileShare, a product which promises smooth, easy, and secure file transfers across platforms, "across LANs, across cities, and across the world."
PC-Mac-Net FileShare v4.5 enables file sharing between Linux, Windows 98/NT/2000/ME/XP, and Mac OS Classic and OS X platforms, according to Lava. The newly released version boasts doubled file transfer speeds, and a host of improvements and new features including:- simplified set-up, with automatic detection of all users on home and small office networks
- fast reconnection to previous users
- bandwidth load balancing
- more responsive transfer speed readings
- enhancements to the MacOS Classic version
- better onitoring of incoming remote user connections
Available for download now, the free "Lite Edition" has a 10MB file size limit, and supports workgroups with up to 3 users. "Standard" and "Professional" Editions, available at $24.95 and $39.95 USD respectively, have no limitation on file size and support larger work groups. The "Professional Edition" offers greater security, including encrypted transfers through Virtual Private Networks.
