OSDL lists 2005 Enterprise Linux Summit highlights

The Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) has announced the key activities that will take place at the Enterprise Linux Summit to be held Jan. 31 - Feb. 2, 2005 in Burlingame, Calif. The Summit, which focuses on the use of Linux in the Enterprise, will feature Linux notables Linus Torvalds, Mitch Kapor, and others, OSDL says.

OSDL lists the following Summit highlights:
  • Main Keynote -- An "Open Conversation" with Linus Torvalds, Andrew Morton, Brian Behlendorf, and Mitch Kapor. Moderated by OSDL CEO Stuart Cohen, this unique panel of Linux and OSS Notables with will focus on the increasing importance of Linux and open source software in today's complex IT environment. This keynote is sure to be both informative and provocative.

  • Additional Keynote -- Utility Computing and the ISV Opportunity on Linux with Dave McAllister, Carl Kesselman and Akmal Khan. Moderated by IDC's Dan Kusnetsky, this panel will explore utility computing's approaching tipping point in enterprise adoption and the enormous business opportunities for ISVs who can move quickly and capitalize on Linux's early role as the critical platform for utility computing.

  • Meet the Experts Forum -- Learn how OSDL works with the development community for enterprise Linux Success. The "OSDL Meet the Experts" forum will be located on the exhibition floor during the conference and will be staffed by OSDL Linux kernel developers, test engineers and other technical experts. This forum will help Enterprise Linux Summit attendees understand how OSDL works with the open source software & Linux development communities to improve Linux and accelerate its adoption.

  • Tutorial Sessions providing valuable, "how to" guidance on Linux architecture, integration, legal, and applications development issues.

  • OSS and the Law Track -- A dedicated track of tutorials and presentations, featuring Larry Rosen and other experts, for lawyers who need to advise their clients on the legal issues presented by Open Source Licensing. California MCLE approval pending.

  • Focus Sessions on critical enterprise Linux topics. Presenters include Andrew Morton, Lawrence Rosen and Brian Behlendorf.

  • Networking Opportunities with peers, Linux leaders, and key vendors.
Additionally, exhibiting companies will include Aduva, AMD, Barracuda Networks, Black Duck Software, CA (Computer Associates), DigitalGuru Computer Bookshops, Eclipse Foundation, Gelato, Levanta, Open Country, OverNite Software, Red Hat, and RLX Technologies.
