OSNews features an interview with Havoc Pennington who heads up Red Hat's desktop team and oversees the freedesktop.org initiative. Calling current versions of both Gnome and KDE "pretty usable," Pennington suggests that more attention should be given to the "issues that span and integrate the large desktop projects - WINE, Mozilla, OpenOffice, Evolution on top of the desktops, X below them. And integrate all of them with the operating system."
