Navy calls up Linux on Macs

Terra Soft Solutions announced that it will supply the U.S. Navy with 260 Apple Xserve servers as part of a Navy sonar imaging system to be built by Lockheed Martin. The servers will run Terra Soft's Yellow Dog Linux operating system.

This 260-unit order by Lockheed marks the largest Apple VAR Xserve sale to date, notes Terra Soft.
