| Yet another online Linux distro chooser |
Oct. 21, 2006
An easy-to-use online tool is now available to help users select an optimal Linux distribution based on experience, inclinations, type of computer, and other factors. The "Linux Distribution Chooser" walks you through a brief set of 16 questions designed to determine which Linux distro might be best for you.
The questions deal with partitioning, use of wireless devices, home vs. office workstations, PC vs. Mac, and the kind of software you plan to use. The entire survey takes only about 5 minutes to complete.
The distros currently included in the tool's database include: Fedora Core, Mandriva, OpenSuSE, Debian, MEPIS, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Linspire, Xandros, PCLinuxOS, Yellowdog Linux, Gentoo, Slackware, Ark Linux, Knoppix, Arch Linux, and Foresight Linux.
The Linux Distribution Chooser originally was published in January by Daniel Eikeland, a project leader at Norwegian open-source consultancy Zegenie Studios.
So what are you waiting for? Take a break, go here, take the quiz, and see which distro the experts think is right for you, your skill level, and your computer.
