| Official Samba book release kicks off national workshops on Linux networking |

Prentice Hall PTR has published Samba-3 By Example with accompanying CD to provide system administrators with best practice approaches, sample code, and case studies for efficient Samba installations on Linux-based networks. The new release is a companion to November's The Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide. Both books are available as part of Prentice Hall PTR's Bruce Perens Open Source Series.
The book is also available as part of official Samba documentation, and Prentice Hall PTR will make the full source of both Terpstra books available via to Samba.org's public CVS in early April. Books in the Bruce Perens' Open Source Series are published under the Open Publication License, an open source-compatible book license.
Along with the book launch, John Terpstra will be introducing real-world training modules and exercises from the book at the Mountain View, CA-based Freedom Technology Center. The courses, debuting on April 19, will then be offered nationally. Terpstra will also be offering the program in June in conjunction with the ITEC convention in Seattle and Dallas.

Other Prentice Hall titles that target Linux developers debuting in April include, Linux Programming By Example by Arnold Robbins and Understanding the Linux Virtual Memory Manager by Mel Gorman.
