| Turbolinux launches FUJI OS v11 |

Japan-based Turbolinux announced the release of its Turbolinux FUJI Version 11 operating system for desktops and laptops on May 30. FUJI features a 2.6.13 kernel, the KDE desktop, and tools to facilitate migration from Windows, including Active Directory authentication, file sharing, and other communications tools, according to the company.
FUJI, which uses two installation CDs, also is compatible with CyberLink Corp.'s PowerDVD player and Versora's migration tool, Progression Desktop for Linux, which allows FUJI users to transfer files and settings from Windows to Linux systems. Plug-ins for PowerDVD and Progression Desktop for Linux will be available within the next few weeks, Turbolinux said.
Other key features of Turbolinux FUJI, according to the company, include:- StarOffice suite
- GIMP 2.2.8 graphics editor
- Thunderbird 1.0.7 email client
- English and Asian language support
- wireless LAN capacity
- automatic updates for security patches
- broadband features, including Windows Media Playback and Flash Player
- development tools, including Java and several other state-of-the-art functions for personal and business users.
Turbolinux distributions are designed specifically for enterprise computing.
