| Vista vs. Linux Hardware Wars |
Jan. 31, 2007
In this third episode of a series that pits Microsoft's new Vista OS against SimplyMEPIS Linux, DesktopLinux.com columnist Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols checks out how well each of the two OSes works the hardware on his HP Pavilion Media Center TV PC. Some of the results may surprise you.
"When [my HP system] was first built, in early 2006, this was a high-end system. Today, in early 2007, it's still a powerful system; but, it's in no way, shape, or form a cutting-edge PC," Vaughan-Nichols writes.
"In other words, neither Vista nor MEPIS should have too much trouble with the hardware. Right? Well, I was half-right."
