| Massachusetts makes move to open source |

Massachusetts is movng to open source software from Microsoft's proprietary OS throughout government agencies, reports TechNewsWorld. This move is similar to other governments worlwide who have made the decision to embrace open standards because of cost, improved reliability, increases interoperability and security.
Also in Massachusetts -- on Novemeber 10, Boston University's Corporate Education center, in conjunction with the Desktop Linux Consortium, will be exploring this trend of Linux deployments with key presentations from experts who are instrumental in helping organizations make a move to Linux. Key representatives of the technology and government initiatives -- such as the Linux movement in Japan -- will be available to explain the trend and benefits of open standards.
