Lindows.com has unveiled their new Japanese version of Lindows OS at a Tokyo event with the Edge Company today. In a second announcment, the company also debuted a US $170 network-based computer for the US market.
Called the WebStation, the computer is a no-frills system sans hard drive or floppy drive. The device boots from an internal CD drive that is not accessible to the end user. The Webstation targets users who want an in expensive second computer, business work terminals, or public-access kiosks, according to Lindows.com.
Device specifications include a 800MHz Via C3 processor, 256MB of RAM, CD-ROM, a keyboard, mouse and two USB ports for additional peripherals. The Webstation is available now.
