| Mozilla releases security upate for Internet tool suite |
Sep. 23, 2005
Mozilla 1.7.12, a security and stability update to the Mozilla Application Suite, was released Thursday for download. The suite consists of the Mozilla web browser, an email and newsgroup client, IRC chat client, and HTML editor.
Fixes in Mozilla 1.7.12 are included for the international domain name (IDN) link buffer overflow vulnerability and the Linux command-line URL parsing flaw -- the same security problems that affected Mozilla's Firefox browser and were patched Thursday.
There are also other security and stability changes, including a fix for a crash experienced when using certain Proxy Auto-Config scripts, the Mozilla project said. Some regressions introduced by previous 1.7.x security updates also have been resolved, Mozilla added.
Various Mozilla 1.7.12 builds can be downloaded here. More information about this version is available in the Mozilla 1.7.12 Release Notes, which includes a list of what's new.
You can also download the entire Mozilla Application Suite here.
