| Open Clip Art project announces improvements, calls for contributions |
Jun. 14, 2005
This month, the Open Clip Art Library project introduced many small improvements to the clip art package it maintains and to the Library's web site. Enhancements include better developer contact information, and improvements to the feature request and bug reporting tools.
The Open Clip Art Library project aims to create an archive of free clip art for use with OpenOffice.org, Inkscape, Sodipodi, Scribus, and similar applications. With over 3400 images submitted by over 200 artists, and more every day, the Library seems to be succeeding.
The images, grouped into such broad categories as "animals," "education," "food," and "people," can be viewed and downloaded individually via the web or downloaded and installed as one lump package. This package has been recently updated and released as version 0.14. Due to the "Library's growing release size," PNG and SVG images are now contained within separate packages.
The Open Clip Art Library project welcomes volunteers, particularly artists. Right now, the project is particularly eager for summer-themed art, in celebration of longer days and weekends at the beach.
Visit The Open Clip Art Library to learn how you can download free clip art, volunteer for the project, or submit your own images.
